Located near Longtan Lake near the Yalong Bay, Butterfly Valley is a 1.5-ha garden of vibrant colors and feathery winged delights. On display are some of China’s most rare and precious butterflies, including Peking Papilio, among many others. Facilities include tour areas, displays and shopping. Of special note, Hainan Island has the greatest concentration of butterflies in China and is sometimes called “the Butterfly Kingdom”
Monkey Island is located in the south of Lingshui Li Nationality Autonomous Country. Because of its mild climate and graceful landscape, it creates an ideal environment for the local macaques to reproduce. On this island, visitors can enjoy funny monkey performances, and can get very close to the monkeys, and even have photos taken with them.

Jianfengling National Forest Park
Jianfengling National Forest Park is “one of Top Ten Most Beautiful Forests in China” ranked by China National Geography Magazine. The Park is located in the southwest of Hainan Island within Le Dong Country and Dongfang City. There is the largest and well-preserved intact tropical rain forest in China. There are distributed eight kinds of major vegetation vertically from seashore to the highest peak, 1412 meters above sea level, pregnant with more than 3000 kinds of plants and more than 4700 kinds of animals (including the insects).
Luhuitou Park is located high on a hill overlooking the Sanya City featuring a 12-meter-tall statue commemorating the legend of a brave young hunter and a mountain deer that transformed into a beautiful young girl, in the legend, a hunter of the Li minority tracked a deer to cliff’s edge. The deer said to have then turned its head and transformed into a girl who became the hunter’s bride. The park takes its name, which means “deer turns its head” from the legend. Luhuitou Park is both a daytime and nighttime destination.
Nanshan Culture Tourism Zone
One of the largest cultural tourist attractions of its kind in China, the Nanshan Cultural Excursion Zone located just 40km west of Sanya City. Nanshan Buddhism Culture Park is a window on China’s traditional Buddhism culture. The 108-m-tall bronze statue of Buddha on a man-made island in the sea is just right in the Nanshan Culture Tourism Zone.
The “Ya Nuoda” Rainforest Cultural Tourism Zone
The “Ya Nuoda” Rainforest Cultural Tourism Zone is located at the Li Autonomous Country, eulogized as the Shangri-La in Hainan province. At the same time, Ya Nuoda Tropical Rainforest is called as a Natural oxygen bar with plenty of plants growing there. Phytoncide emitted by the plants can help to improve the human health.
The End of the Earth
The End of the Earth, or Tianya Haijiao, is doubtlessly Sanya’s most famous scenic beauty spot and the highlight for many visitors who come to experience the area’s spectacular beaches, expansive sea views and rich history. Rising over the beach is an ancient rock formation inscribed with Chinese characters meaning “The Edge of the Sky” written by Chengzhe, chief magistrate of Yazhou Prefecture in the Qing Dynasty. Another inscription nearby reads ”the Ends of the Sea”.
Nanshan Minor and Major Caves
The Nanshan Minor and Major Caves encompass an area of more than 20km besides the seashore about 20km west of Sanya City. The caves provide an alternative world to discover in Sanya and are archeological significance with relic dating to Tang Dynasty.
Located in Sanya City just three kilo meters from the city center, Dadonghai, which means Great East Sea, offers a fine crescent-shaped beach and an outstanding swimming and diving setting all within a short distance of first-class hotels and great dinning and shopping facilities. Dadonghai has been rated as one of China’s top 40 tourist attraction by the National Tourism Bureau and remains a “must-see” destination for all.
